One wants to stay longer than one day but does not want to play bingo every evening or have to be on time for buffets. In backpacker hostels you often meet travel hungry people from all corners of the world. The architects of these houses are called Joe, Chairman, Michele, Hiro, Kathi and Myo. They were / are permanent guests that fashioned a part of their “hacienda” based on what they imagined Africa to be like. A backpacker is not only accommodation. Firstly we want to ensure that you will actually get to South Africa. Our fair prices are achieved through a good selection of and negotiations with local partners. The accommodation that we offer is “basic”, presentable and clean. We do not offer any color TVs, hotel lobbies or cultural programs and also no unnecessary “all inclusive services”. Less than 5% of the prices are administrative costs. Everything else you will receive back in the form of services. We do not have a “fat” marketing budget, nor any board member and share holder value is not glossed over. |

Your passport has to be valid for at least three months after entry. A tourist visa which is valid for three months can be obtained at the airport when entering the country. You should have the necessary shots against polio, tetanus, diphtheria and hepatitis A & B. It is a good idea to carry your vaccination booklet with you. A vaccination against yellow fever is not mandatory. Identical malaria preparations can be bought in South Africa at better prices than in Germany. They are only necessary during particular seasons and when traveling through certain regions. These include the northern parts of South Africa, the Kruger National Park and areas surrounding Durban.
